A collection of talents and traits known as emotional intelligence include self-awareness, self-control, empathy, and sensitivity to the feelings of others. Many of the interpersonal abilities found in competency frameworks are covered. (Dulewicz and Higgs, 1998).

Every day, we look a variety and various of challenges in the workplace or organization and company: making decisions, meeting deadlines, and completing tasks. But how often are we held back by problems caused by pressure, poor communication, and unclear objectives (Goleman, 1998).

The daily challenge of dealing effectively with emotions is Important to the human condition as a result of our brains square measure hard-wired to relinquish emotions the higher hand (Goleman, 1995).

Good artice, Furthermore Goleman (1998, p. 317) defines as “the capacity for recognizing our own feelings and those of others, for motivating ourselves, and for managing emotions well in ourselves and in our relationships.” Martinez (1997, p. 72) “refers to emotional intelligence as being: an array of non-cognitive skills, capabilities and competencies that influence a person’s ability to cope with environmental demands and pressures” (cited in Dulewicz and Higgs, 2000, p. 342)

    1. thank you for your valuable points and feedback Dr. Goleman is an internationally known psychologist who lectures frequently to professional groups, business audiences, and on college campuses. Working as a science journalist, Goleman reported on the brain and behavioral sciences for The New York Times for many years.

      EI typically has a favorable impact on leadership. EI can assist leaders in comprehending and appropriately responding to the demands of the workforce (Goleman, 2004).

Good Article ameen, addition to that Emotional intelligence allows leaders to positively affect their situation by creating an environment of open communication, enhanced trust, and greater empathy by gaining a better understanding of their own emotions as well as the emotions of others (Aloysius, 2010) Emotional intelligence is emerging as an important characteristic for leaders to possess as organizations become more aware of the importance of these vital skills that allow for a higher level of communication within teams, with customers and suppliers, and with all stakeholders (Aloysius, 2010) The ability to recognize and regulate emotions in ourselves and others is referred to as emotional intelligence (E.I.) (Goleman, 2001). (Aloysius, 2010)

  7. Good article Ameen. One of main components in EI is social skills. It is proficiency in managing relationships and building networks to get the desired result from others and reach personal goals and the ability to find common ground and build rapport. The five competencies associated with this component are leadership, effectiveness in leading change, conflict management, influence/communication, and expertise in building and leading teams (Goleman, 1995)

Moreover, as stated by Arora (2017), In certain environments, employees with high levels of emotional intelligence may be better able to cooperate with others, manage work-related stress, solve conflicts within workplace relationships, and learn from previous interpersonal mistakes. Workers with high EQ are better able to work in teams, adjust to change and be flexible. No matter how many degrees or other on-paper qualifications a person has, if he or she doesn’t have certain emotional qualities, he is unlikely to succeed
