Working as a science journalist, Goleman reported on the brain and behavioral sciences for The New York Times for many years.

DeleteGood Article ameen, addition to that Emotional intelligence allows leaders to positively affect their situation by creating an environment of open communication, enhanced trust, and greater empathy by gaining a better understanding of their own emotions as well as the emotions of others (Aloysius, 2010) Emotional intelligence is emerging as an important characteristic for leaders to possess as organizations become more aware of the importance of these vital skills that allow for a higher level of communication within teams, with customers and suppliers, and with all stakeholders (Aloysius, 2010) The ability to recognize and regulate emotions in ourselves and others is referred to as emotional intelligence (E.I.) It is proficiency in managing relationships and building networks to get the desired result from others and reach personal goals and the ability to find common ground and build rapport. The five competencies associated with this component are leadership, effectiveness in leading change, conflict management, influence/communication, and expertise in building and leading teams (Goleman, 1995)
